Detox Update

David and I are starting week two of our 30day detox. This week we can add soy, organic chicken, tomatoes and potatoes. The first week we ate ample amounts of fish, vegetables (neither potatoes nor tomatoes were allowed) and whole grains (like brown rice and quinoa).

We've been drinking tons of water with lemon to flush out the congested toxins from our liver. A daily dose of milk thistle and dandelion tea is assisting in pushing the buggers out.

Every morning David has been making delicious dark green smoothies. They usually have bananas, blueberries, strawberries, ground flax seeds, rice milk, Garden of Life fiber, Organic Greens (loaded with spirulina, flaxmeal, chlorella, sea veggies, spinach and parsley), juiced carrots and juiced wheat grass.

It's amazing what a detox can do to help eliminate sluggishness. The winters in Portland have a way of making you feel heavy and I don't just mean in pounds. Yes, heavy in pounds in the way of beer and lack of exercise but also heavy in the spirit from lack of sun.

I feel so healthy and pert!

The detox requires that you eliminate all refined shite like sugar, flour and preservatives. It also eliminates all oils (like vegetable/corn) except olive oil. We usually cook with olive oil so the detox has been fairly easy for us.

We can't have dairy, wheat, sugar, eggs, alcohol or caffeine. It's no wonder I feel so crisp! At least for now I do. Lets see how I feel after week two.
