Practice Shots

I've finally decided to invest in a telephoto zoom lens. I got it today! Here are a few shots.

Lamb's ear. So soft!

Grow, baby, grow!
Three miles back on Elk Lake Creek Trail #559 we came upon this babbling brook.

Elk Lake Camping Excursion Part Deux

So we decided to go back out again. This time we armed ourselves with a couple of fishing poles, a 9'raft and oars. We entered the forest on a Sunday afternoon and found THE perfect spot...on the shoulder of the lake this time. We stayed two days and two nights. Nope, didn't catch any fish, but that's okay. We paddled and floated around in the raft with the quiet beauty that surrounded us. Sigh, what a remarkable trip indeed!
This is where we sat a majority of the time. The most perfect view.
A dark panoramic of our campsite by the lake. That clicking sound is the lens trying to focus so bear with me. M. Ward is playing on the boombox. You can sorta see my car up behind the trees in the last few seconds of the video.

A view (somewhat) of our campsite from where my Tracker was parked. The lake is just beyond the raft (The blown out background).

You can't see the trail we were hiking on but I wanted a picture of the lush ferns that lined it.

These ducks made their way around to our campsite several times during our stay. They squeaked like toys. Were they babies? They looked mature.

This one was the only one with this marking. Does this make it a male? Or does that make the rest immature?

I saw several trees, including this stump, where someone decided to scar them with their ax.

The lake was clear and peaceful at twilight.

I found this log on the shore of our campsite. A fun float toy, but slippery. And it kept spinning.

We were hiking along this old growth forest and this stump was about to fall... David is strong, like ox.

Point Juncture, WA at The Bite of Oregon

Hooray for PJWA(s) for opening the Sunday music set at the Bite. The Bite of Oregon is an annual event that displays local resteraunt/food businesses benefiting the Special Olympics of Oregon. It's yet another event for folks to herd together at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. I attend mainly for the music. Last year I saw The Decemberists, this year I went to support friends. Point Juncture, Wa is a most unique Portland band. They're melodic, poetic, sweet and emotive. You mustn't put them into a music genre because really they can't be put into a box. They're not indie rock, indie pop or emo. I don't know what they are. They are extremely talented musicians able to play multiple instruments and sing in three part harmony. Check out their website for showtimes and/or to buy their two albums. (They're both awesome!) PJWA(s)

I borrowed Ryan's camera and took 269 photos! Ai Zhesush.

1 minute snippet of PJWA(s) at the Bite. Oops, it's blown out.

This stage was HUGE.

This is Amanda. THE drummer and vocalist. How can you NOT be mesmerized watching her?

This is Victor Paul. He has mad trump skillz. and he plays the keyboard, vibraphone, and the drums. And , and... he's a vocalist, too. Phew!

This is Jesse. He's the bassist/vocalist. His voice is sweet.

This is Wilson. He's a comet of a guitar player!

This is Skyler. He plays guitar but he's all over the stage. I think he can play almost any instrument on their stage.

Here's one of Jesse playing the vibraphone and keyboard in his bare dogs.

Victor Paul and Amanda playing the drums together on "It Slows Down". Looks like palm trees are reflecting off of his sunglasses.

Cute.

The clip-ons rock!

The blue in between.

This is Jason Quigley. You can usually find him shooting pictures at a PJWA(s) show.

This is Katie. She's won 105 medals in the Special Olympics. The guy to the right introduced the sponsers for the Bite.

Camping at Elk Lake

David made this amazing map of where we camped out. (Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about in my pix).

This moth wanted a piece of me. It kept landing on my tankini.

These poor abandoned tubs look like they may have shimmered a pretty-blue some time ago.

The hot springs is under that roof-like thing. The hoses fed into the two tubs.
